Obituary for Charles M. Brewer

Charles M.  Brewer
Charles M. Brewer, 85 of Dyersburg, Tennessee, formerly of Carbondale and DeSoto. Illinois, died on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Saturday, February 18, 1933 in Carbondale, Illinois, he was the son of the late George Allen Brewer and the late Lena Hill Brewer. Mr. Brewer was a retired employee of Tesa Tuck, Inc., member of the New Life Tabernacle in Murphysboro, Illinois from 1971 until 2018 and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. His life consisted of loving God first, family second, daily Bible readings, his humor and quick wit, love of walking, sweet desserts and was affectionately known as the "can man."

He is survived by his wife, Lena Mae Oakley Winstead Brewer of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one daughter, Dianne Brewer Pulse of Beebe, Arkansas; two step-daughters, Doris Crowell of Carterville, Illinois and LaVonda Kaye Thacker (Richard) of Mineral Ridge, Ohio; two step-sons, Wesley Meacham (Margaret) of Westerville, Ohio and Robert Ray Winstead (Sheila) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one brother, Marvin Brewer of Murphysboro, Illinois and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-seven years, Iva Aline Russell Meacham Brewer; one step-son, Richard Winstead; three sisters, Almina Lowe, Gladys Bandy Loveless and Mary Tucker and three brothers, George Lee Brewer, Jerry Brewer and Jim Brewer.

Funeral services for Mr. Brewer will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the New Life Tabernacle in Murphysboro, Illinois with interment to follow in DeSoto Cemetery in DeSoto, Illinois, with military services conducted by the American Legion Post # 127. Officiating this service will be Rev. Larry Dean Worthen. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Tuesday at the New Life Tabernacle in Murphysboro, Illinois.

The family would like to express their gratitude to West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital and Caris Hospice for the kindness and love that was shown to Mr. Brewer and his family.
