Obituary for Jack Dean Lipe

Jack Dean  Lipe
Jack Dean Lipe, 76, of Murphysboro, passed away at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at his residence in Murphysboro.

Jack was born on March 16, 1942, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Willard “Bo” and Mary Elizabeth (Hooker) Lipe.

He was a truck driver and he enjoyed truck driving and tractors.

Mr. Lipe was a member of Christ Community Church in Murphysboro.

Jack married Paula (Lane) on April 3, 1965, in Perry County, Illinois, and she preceded him in death on December 16, 1998. He later married Shirley Ogilvy on June 7, 2014, in Murphysboro, and she survives.

He is survived by two sons Dean Lipe of Murphysboro and Brian (Bradley) Lype-Barker of St. Louis, MO;

five grandchildren Jessica (Jasper Willem) Lipe-deSwart of Tilburg, Netherlands, Amanda (Kenneth) Parnell and Taylor (Justin McCann) Lipe, all of Murphysboro, Elizabeth (Daniel) Falco of Muldrow, OK, and Ryan Lloyd of Farmersville, TX;

four great grandchildren Mason McCann, Logan McCann, D. J. Falco, and Gabriel Parnell;

three step children Elizabeth (Mike) Bratten of Melbourne, FL, Rebecca (Adam) Cook, Hoxie, Ark., Jerry Needham of Murphysboro;

five step great grandchildren Cierra Bratton, Addison Bratton, Isaiah Cook, Megan Cook and Audrey Cook;

seven siblings Katie Behrens and Joyce Lipe, both of Carbondale, Helen Williams of DeSoto, Julia Lipe of Murphysboro, Robert Lipe of Carbondale, Glen Lipe of Mulkeytown, and Willard Lipe of St. Louis, MO.

He was preceded in death by one daughter Christine Diane Wynn in January of 2017, one brother Dan Lipe, and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2018, at Christ Community Church with Rev. Rick McNeely officiating and burial at Hiller Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Pettett Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
