Obituary for
Gordon "Butch" W. Ogilvy
Gordon W. "Butch" Ogilvy, 61, of Warm Spring, Arkansas and formerly of the Murphysboro, Illinois area, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Five Rivers Hospital in Pocahontas, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at the Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Jim Frye officiating and burial at Murdale Gardens of Memory. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Pettett Funeral Home and Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.
Gordon was born on August 7, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Lisle and Madeline (Hulin) Ogilvy.
He loved cooking, yard work and his grandchildren.
Mr. Ogilvy had attended the Church of the Nazarene in Murphysboro, Illinois. He was self employed working for The Southern Illinoisan newspaper.
Gordon married Shirley Ellis on December 9, 1995, in Murphysboro, Illinois and she survives in Warm Spring, Ark.
Other survivors include three step children Elizabeth Bratten of Ft. Pierce Florida, Jerry Needham of Greenwood, SC, and Rebecca Cook of Walnut Ridge, Ark.;
five grandchildren Cierra Bratten, Addison Bratten, Isaiah Cook, Megan Cook, and Audrey Cook;
one brother Robert Ogilvy of Arnold, MO;
three sisters Donna Bullard of Perryville, MO, Beverly Walker of Farmington, MO, and Teresa Conigilio of Murphysboro;
and several nieces and nephews.
