Obituary for Adeline Mae Young (Moore)

Adeline Mae  Young (Moore)
Adeline Mae Young, 101, of Murphysboro, passed away at her residence in Murphysboro, at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, April 11, 2010.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Murphysboro with Rev. Timothy A. Bean officiating and burial will be at St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Murphysboro.

Adeline was born on July 21, 1908, in Murphysboro, to Thomas Moore and Laura (Graff) Moore.

She was a farm wife and homemaker.
Adeline enjoyed raising strawberries and had the U-Pick Strawberries. She also enjoyed vegetable gardening, tending to her yard and flowers, and she especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Young was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Murphysboro, where she had been a member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Jackson County Home Extension and a former 4-H Leader.

She married Anthony O. "Tony" Young on July 10, 1933, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on December 25, 1998.

Adeline is survived by one daughter Christina Edwards of Murphysboro,

three grandsons John F. "Jay" Edwards, III and his wife Kimberly Edwards of River Forest, IL, Michael Anthony Edwards and his wife Polly Edwards and Mark Allen Edwards, all of Dupo;

and seven great grandchildren John Francis "Jack" Edwards, IV, Maxim Edwards and Haley Edwards, all of River Forest, IL, Rachael Edwards, Lydia Edwards, Breigh Ann Edwards, and Nathanael Edwards, all of Dupo.

She was preceded in death by one son in law John Edwards, three brothers Samuel, Robert and Ralph Moore, one sister Agnes VanCloostere, and her parents.
