Jimmy E. Singleton, 74, of Murphysboro, passed away at 8:27 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018, at his residence in Murphysboro.

Jimmy was born on November 23, 1943, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Calvert Lee Singleton and Lola Mae (Hawkins) Singleton.

He had work on barges. He liked to hunt and fish.

Jimmy is survived by three children Tracy Singleton and her husband Paul Ryan, Robbin Hicks, and Leann Singleton, all of Alton;

eight grandchildren and eight great grandchidlren;

2 brothers Elmer Singleton and Joe Singleton of Marion;

3 sisters Cindy Schuller of Ft. Myer, FL, Beth Canning of Murphysboro and Judy Tippy of Vienna.

He was preceded in death by three brothers--Mike, Donnie, and Roy and five sisters Mary, Betty, Nancy, Barb, and Alice, and his parents.



His body will be cremated.
There will be a memorial service held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at Elm Street Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Allen officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
