Obituary for Charles E. Foster

Charles E. Foster, 85, of Murphysboro, passed away at 5:25 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018, at the VA Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.

Charles was born on January 18, 1933, in Cambria, Illinois, to Andrew Foster and Helen (Cooper) Foster.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 127 and the V.F.W. Post # 7190, both in Murphysboro.

Charles was a truck driver until he retired.

Mr. Foster was a member of the Abundant Life Fellowship in Murphysboro.

He was an avid Cardinal fan and enjoyed sports. He loved to fish and he was very interested in history and kept up to date on politics.

Charles married Lillie M. (Triplett) on May 1, 1953, in Marion, Illinois, and she survives.

Other survivors include eight children Charlene Crews and Lonnie (Pam) Foster, all of Murphysboro, Sharon (John) Helleny of Marion, Rebecca (Scott) Lipe of Herrin, Regina (Richard) Brown of Hendersonville, TN, Rosie (Richard) Thompson of Murphysboro, Buddy (Patty) Foster of Collinsville, and Lisa Foster of Cape Girardeau, MO;

fourteen grandchildren and twenty seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Paul Foster and Roscoe Carter, one sister Margaret Hosp, his parents, and a dear friend, who was like a brother, Mike Connor.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Abundant Life Fellowship with Rev. James Easton officiating and burial at Murdale Gardens of Memory with military services conducted by the Paul Stout American Legion Post # 127. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. The family would prefer memorials to be made to the Abundant Life Ministries or to the Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois. Pettett Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
