Antony "Tony" Rinella, Jr., 69, of Murphysboro, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2018, at the Integrity Nursing Home in Carbondale.
Anthony was born on October 24, 1948, in Murphysboro at the old St. Andrew Hospital, to Anthony Rinella, Sr. and Celestine (Barone) Rinella.
He enjoyed cooking and when they home schooled, he was the cook.
He loved his family, friends and especially children. He had always prayed for a little girl and was so proud of his daughter, Aminda.
He, also, helped take care of his mother in law.
Tony had worked at Tuck Tape for 18 years until he became disabled.
He married Barbara Jeanne Smith on April 11, 1992, in Murphysboro at the Victory Christian Fellowship and they renewed their vows on June 1, 2013, at St. Morris Catholic Church in Beihle, Missouri.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter Aminda Rinella-Isreal of Murphysboro;
two grandchildren Matthew Ellis and Aubriel Rinella-Isreal of Murphysboro;
his God-daughter Jamie Smith of Mascoutah, IL;
special friends Lavern and Laura Reeder of Nixa, MO, and Lavern's mother, Ruehama Reeder, who just recently passed away;
his cousins David Barone and Rosemary DaCosse of Murphysboro, Debra Barone Mason of Carterville, Sandy McCoy of Murphysboro, and other cousins;
four sister in laws Tina (Michael) Westbrook of Murphysboro; Carolyn Smith of Valdosta, GA, Therese Zolk of Van Buren, Ark, and Paula Lillard-Smith, of Jefferson, MO:
four brother in laws Christopher (Susan) Smith and Joseph Smith, all of Murphysboro, Dennis (Andrea) Smith Fairfield, OH, Silas (Evelyn) Smith of Bethalto, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister in law Marianne Smith and one brother in law John Smith and his mother in law and father in law.
His body will be cremated. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 16, 2018, at St. Andrew Catholic Church and burial at St. Andrew Cemetery.
