Margaret Elizabeth “Betty” Barger, 91, went home to Jesus on Friday, August 10, 2018, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Betty was born on August 21,1926, in Carrier Mills, to George and Ferne (Layne) Parks.

She was a woman of strong faith and belief in a merciful and loving God. Betty was a long time member of Elm Street Baptist Church of Murphysboro.

Her son and his wife, Ron and Leisa Barger of Dallas, and three grandchildren, Alyson, Rob and Barrett survive.

Her family would like to thank the many people who helped her during her latter years, including her caregivers, her neighbors, Dr. Dale Blaise and the doctors, nurses and staff of the 4th floor at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale

Visitation will be Friday, August 31, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro. Pursuant to her wishes, no funeral service will be held. There will be a private burial at Carrier Mills Salem Cemetery.
