Obituary for Phyllis Jean Vinyard (DIllard)

Phyllis Jean Vinyard, 89, formerly of Murphysboro, passed away at 7:40 p..m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Three Springs Lodge and Nursing Facility in Chester, Illinois.

Phyllis was born on September 18, 1928, in Harrisburg, Illinois, to Athel Dillard and Easter Viva (Feuquary) Dillard.

She was an avid reader and continued to do Bible studies.

Phyllis enjoyed golfing and she and her husband enjoyed many winters in Florida.'

Mrs. Vinyard was a member of Elm Street Baptist Church in Murphysboro.

She married James Marcellus Vinyard on November 21, 1945, in Harrisburg, and he preceded her in death on May 31, 2013.

She is survived by her son, Derry Vinyard and his wife Lois Vinyard, formerly of Chester, now of Perryville, Missouri,

and two grandsons Ryan Ashley Vinyard of St. Charles, MO and Eric Grant Vinyard of Peoria, IL.

Besides her husband she is preceded in death by one son David M. Vinyard, her parents, one brother Charles DIllard, and one sister Mary L. Smith.

It was Phyllis' desire to have very simple arrangements and not to burden others. Her body will be cremated and there will be private services.

Phyllis was very concerned about people not having enough to eat and it is the family's wishes that memorials be made to the Chester Area Christian Food Pantry, 128 Koeneman Acres, Chester, IL 62233.
