He was a U.S. Army veteran. After his time in the service, Ed was a professional cook -- carrying a passion for culinary arts throughout his life. He especially loved making and sharing old family recipes during the holidays. His loved ones will miss his great sense of humor -- he always knew how to make people laugh and smile.

Edward married his best friend Michelle (Stevens) on October 10, 1999, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, she survives.

Other survivors include his wife's children Josiah Hair and his wife Michelle Hair of Froid, Montana and Matthew Hair and his wife Danielle Gordon of Murphysboro; two grandchildren Jackson and Ellie Hair; his mother Emiliee of Anna; two brothers Scott Atwood of College Park, Maryland and Dr. Thomas Atwood of Los Lunas, New Mexico; his Uncle Kurt Ulrich and wife Sherrie, of Colorado, and his Uncle Richard Ulrich and wife Pam, of Washington state; 16 nieces and nephews; and many friends, including four furry friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister Jacqueline Atwood.
