Obituary for Henry L. Moutria

Henry L. Moutria, 82, of Murphysboro, passed away at 8:04 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2018, at his residence in Eldorado, Illinois.

Henry was born on September 5, 1935, in Murphysboro, to George Moutria and Edna (Whittington) Moutria Abbey.

He had worked at the former Brown Shoe Company until it closed and then he worked for over thirty years as an apprentice at Lustour-Curwood in Murphysboro.

Mr. Moutria is a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Murphysboro.

He also worked as a volunteer fire fighter for the Murphysboro-Pomona-Sommerset Fire department.

Henry married Ruth Marie (Benson) on March 23, 1957, in Murphysboro, and she preceded him in death on August 24, 2007.

Henry is survived by three children and their spouses William and Donna Moutria and Sonya and Jeffrey Beach, all of Murphysboro, and Patricia Currier and her husband Donald Currier, IV, of Eldorado;


fourteen grandchildren Marissa Penrod, William Moutria, Jr., Bruce Moutria, Robert Moutria, Amanda Bruno, LaTasha Sullivan, Robert Tuttle, Chassity Leggans, Steven Clark, Jeffery Clark, Daniel Clark, Donnie Currier, Cody Currier, and Tristyn Currier;

fifteen great grandchildren;

one brother George Moutria of Carbondale; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son Henry "Hank" Moutria, five brothers Donald, Bruce, Mike, Frank, and Billy Ray, three sisters JoAnn, Phyllis, and Sharon, and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at the Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Jim Frye and Rev. James Blue officiating and burial at Murdale Gardens of Memory. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of the Nazarene.
