Obituary for Ron A. Heern

Ron A.  Heern
Ron A. Heern, 58, of Murphysboro, passed away at 3:52 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2018, in St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Ron was born on May 13, 1960, in Carbondale, Illinois, to Sue (Reiman) Bagby and Jack Heern.

He had worked as a custodian at Carbondale High School and at other places in the area.

Mr. Heern was a member of The Vine in Carbondale.

He was a horticulturist and loved gardening and barbecuing.

Ron married Janet Naegele on July 29, 1978, in Murphysboro, and she survives.

Other survivors include his mother Sue Bagby of Carbondale, his father and step mother Jack and Virginia Heern of Carbondale;

2 sons and their wives Phillip and Amber Heern of Ava and Zach and Theresa Heern of Gainesville, FL;

three grandchildren Leah Heern and Zeke Heern, both of Gainesville, FL and Treyton Heern of Ava;

his two canine companions Layla and Max;

2 sisters April (Nick) Twenhafel and niece and nephew Ella and Hudson of Fountain Valley, CA and Kim (Steve) Tarr and one nephew and two nieces Logan, Olivia, and Jenna-Beth Tarr, all of Anna, TX;

one brother in law Chris Naegele and his wife Debi Naegele and sister in law Suzie Naegele; and several nieces, nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his father in law and mother in law Charles and Anna Naegele, and brother in law Mike Naegele.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2018, at The Vine in Carbondale, with Pastor Mike Staff officiating and burial at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church. The family would prefer memorials be made to The Vine. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com.

Ron was both a transplant recipient and a transplant donor, having received and now given the gift of life!
