Obituary for Albert Murl "Ab" Imhoff

Albert Murl "Ab"  Imhoff
Albert Murl Imhoff, 85, of Murphysboro, Illinois, passed away at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, October, 21, 2009 at Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County in Murphysboro surrounded byhis entire family.

Albert was born May 11, 1924, in Jackson County, Illinois, to Clifford Imhoff and Mary Alice (Thompson) Imhoff.

Albert was a veteran and served for the U.S. Army in World War II.

He was a lifelong farmer and also was an employee for the Murphysboro School District # 186.

Mr. Imhoff was a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Murphysboro. He also was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. # 7190 and American Legion # 127. Albert liked to dance and he also liked country music.

Albert married Etta Mae Schwebel on April 10, 1949, in Murphysboro, Illinois, and she survives.

Other survivors include three children Diane Imhoff of Murphysboro, Beverly Archer and her husband Dennis Archer of Federal Way, WA, and Cindy Presley and her husband Curt Presley of Murphysboro;

fourteen grandchildren Keith Wright and his wife, Amy Wright of Austin, TX, Kevin Wood and his wife, Mellissa Wood of Fairview Heights, IL, Courtney Wood Harmeling and her husband, Michael Harmeling of Sikeston, MO, Sara Archer Greenwood and her husband, Derek Greenwood, Benjamin Archer and his wife, Heidi Archer, all of Auburn, WA, Stephen Archer of Tacoma, WA, Becky Archer, Peter Archer, Jon Archer, Christine Archer, Leah Archer, all of Federal Way, WA, Jessica Presley Hayes and her husband, William Hayes of Fort Polk, LA, Jacob Presley, and Hillary Presley, both of Murphysboro;

and five great grandchildren Dakota Greenwood, Jace Greenwood, Emily Archer, and Sean Archer,all of Auburn, WA, and Jaden Waddington of Fort Polk, LA;

and three additional great grandchildren on the way.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter Hannah Archer, two sisters Lois Graeff and Yvonne Cox, and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Brandon and Rev. Earl Renshaw officiating and burial will be at Pleasanat Hill Cemetery with military services conducted by the American Legion Post # 127, V.F.W. Post # 7190 and 2605 and the Jackson County D.A.V. Chapter # 69. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday and until 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Christian Church, the Southen IL Parkinson's Disease Association, in care of Robert Kilriakos, 321 Davis Farm Road, Carbondale, IL 62902, or to the Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc.
