Obituary for Marjorie Ice (Weaver)

Marjorie  Ice (Weaver)
Marjorie Ice, age 91, of Murphysboro, passed away at 11:55 a.m., Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at the Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County in Murphysboro, Illinois.

Her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2009 at Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro, with Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating.

Marjorie was born on November 18, 1917, in Chew Magna, England, to the late Tom and Archie Weaver.

She married Paul Wayne Ice, a U.S. Army Soldier from West Frankfort, in August, 1946, in Bristol, England. They came back to the United State after the World War II living mostly in West Frankfort and Murphysboro, Illinois. Her husband, Paul, preceded her in death in 1977.

Marjorie drove an ambulance for the British Civil Defense and Courier and Supply Trucks for the U.S. Army during World War II. After locating in Murphysboro, she worked at Holden Hospital in Carbondale in the Insurance Department. She also worked as an Avon Representative for many years.

Marjorie is survived by three daughters and one son: Valerie Wooldridge and her husband Jack Wooldridge of Marion, IL, Madelaine Ries and her husband Larry Ries of Saratoga Springs, NY, Pamela Williams and her husband James Williams of Etowah, NC, and Kevin Ice and his wife Rhonda Ice of Murphysboro;

ten grandchildren Mark Wooldridge, Steven Wooldridge, Scott Wooldridge, Christopher Ries, Jessica Ruehrwein, Jennifer (Wooldridge) Lopez, Brittany Sorey, Autumn Ice, Aaron Ice, and Anthony Ice;

and eleven great grandchildren.

Also, Marjorie is survived by two nephews Peter Winston and Dennis Wiston, and three nieces Sylvia Scolding, Isobel Evans and Jennifer Haworth, all in England.

Marjorie was preceded in death by two sisters Olive Winston and Elsie Weaver, and one brother Frank Weaver.

She will be at peace and will be missed by all her family.
