Elizabeth "Betty" J. Ebersohl, 91, of Murphysboro, passed away at 10:02 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2018, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Elizabeth was born on March 19, 1927, in Old DuQuoin, Illinois, to Ben and Catherine (Nehring) Schneider.

She had worked in the office at the former Brown Shoe Company in Murphysboro.

Mrs. Ebersohl was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro and a member of the St. Andrew Altar Society. She enjoyed crocheting and did piece work quilting.

She and her husband Polka Danced for many years and travelled with the band to various states. She was Sister Elizabeth in "Sister Act 33 1/3".

Betty married Elbert G. Ebersohl on June 2, 1948, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in DuQuoin, and he preceded her in death on December 28, 1994.

Survivors include three children and their spouses, Lynn and Bill Ethridge of Steeleville, Michael and Liat Ebersohl of Oak Park, IL, and Eric and Laura Ebersohl of Herrin;

two grandchildren Ryan Provo and Jenny Provo, both of Murphysboro, and one step grandson Nic Roth of Chicago;

and three great grandchildren Celeste Provo, Mark Provo, and Michael Provo.

She was preceded in death by one daughter Anita Marie Ebersohl, four brothers Paul, Bernard, Cletus and Aloysius Schneider, two sisters Dolores Stein and Rita Iffert, and her parents.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2018, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with burial at St. Andrew Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church, where a rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. It was Betty's wish that there be no flowers and to please donate to the following places in her memory the Murphysboro Food Pantry, St. Andrew Church or St. Andrew School.
