Eric Scott Elllis, 47, of Murphysboro, passed away at 1:18 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2018, at his residence in Murphysboro.

Eric was born on February 9, 1971, in Murphysboro, to Eldon Dwayne Ellis, Sr. and Norma (Crow) Ellis.

Eric loved the outdoors, and fishing was his favorite way to spend time when he would be with his family. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues. He enjoyed playing games with family around the kitchen table and throwing darts.

He was a man of Christian faith.

Eric is survived by his mother Norma Ellis, Murphysboro;

two brothers Dwayne Ellis and his wife Stacey Ellis of Lees Summitt, MO and Kevin Ellis of Murphysboro;

six nieces and nephews Kaleb Ellis of Troy, IL, Kendra (Jerred) Bowers and their daughter Allie of Pontoon Beach, IL, Dillon Ellis of Gerald, MO, Shelby Willoughby of DeSoto, Christa Willoughby of Springfield, IL, and Ryan Blair of Murphysboro;

and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father and his sister Traci (Ellis) Blair.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2018, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Penrod officiating and burial at Dutch Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
