Gary Allen  Beckman
Gary Allen Beckman, 67, of Murphysboro, passed away at 11:26 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Gary was born on September 28, 1950, in Murphysboro, to Herbert Beckman and Shirley (Bockhorn) Beckman.

He had held several jobs during his lifetime working for Air Illinois, Phelps Dodge and Penn Aluminum, U.M.W.A. as a construction worker and Ultra, Inc. He retired as Property Maintenance Supervisor for the City of Carbondale in 2006.

Gary loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors including fishing, hunting, camping, and golf. In his back yard, he loved sitting by the campfire and entertaining family and friends.

He married Brenda Perkins on June 12, 1971, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro, and she survives.

Other survivors include two sons Lance Beckman and Cody Beckman, both of Murphysboro;

three sisters Vicki, Denise, and Patti Beckman, all of Murphysboro;

his mother in law Betty Perkins of Murphysboro; his sister in law Gail Beckman of DeSoto; one nephew Keith Evans and his wife Katie Evans of Durham, SC; and one niece Melissa Evans of Nashville, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father in law Lloyd Perkins and daughter in law Mandi Beckman.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Pettett Funeral Home with Pastor Dan King officiating and burial at Tower Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and until 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
