John E. Jones, 64, of Murphysboro, passed away as a result of cancer of the esophagus, at 5:58 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
John was born on February 13, 1953, in Murphysboro, to Ralph Jones and Julia "Kate" (Batty) Jones.
John was married to Shirley (Crabtree) and later was married to Regina (Webber).
He had previously worked as a machine operator at Tesa Tape in Carbondale and was the former custodian at the American Legion Post # 127 in Murphysboro. He was a very good handyman. He could build anything.
John is survived by his daughter and son in law Shannon and Michael Bellmann of Ava;
three grandchildren Bradly Jones of Des Plaines, IL, Jordan Hunziker and Jaycee Hunziker, both of Ava;
one sister Patty (Ron) Mitchell of Carterville;
three nieces Michelle Weathers, Stephanie Weathers, and Kimberly Weathers; two nephews Lucas Morefield and Matt Morefield
2 great nephews and 1 great niece;
and a close family friend Shane Webb of Murphysboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Ralph Jones, Jr., one infant sister, and his grandmother Lucy Batty.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Allen officiating and burial at Murdale Gardens of Memory.
