Doris J. Ellet, 90, of Grand Tower, passed away at 11:03 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Manor Court of Carbondale.

Doris was born on June 6, 1927, in Grand Tower, Illinois, to Charlie Trammel and Julia Ann (Hager) Trammel.

She was a homemaker and had been a former member of the Jackson County Home Extension.

Doris married Tunney Ellet on October 17, 1944, in Osceola, Arkansas, and he preceded her in death on June 18, 1993.

She is survived by three daughters Gwen Smothers of Olive Branch, Tonia Burke and her husband Bill Burke and Tina Jarrett and her husband Corey Jarrett, all of Murphysboro;

eleven grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren;

and one sister Pauline Jenkins of Carbondale.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter Sandra Sue Durham, two sons in law Tom Smothers and Darrell Benefield, one grandson, four brothers, four sisters, and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Peggy Camp officiating and burial at Walker Hill Cemetery in Grand Tower. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Karing Kitchen of Grand Tower or Walker Hill Cemetery.
