Obituary for Daniel Joseph Kiel

Daniel Joseph  Kiel
Daniel Joseph Kiel, 54, formerly of Murphysboro, passed away at 11:01 a.m. Monday, November 6, 2017, at his residence in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Daniel was born on July 30, 1963, in Murphysboro, to Robert "Bob" Kiel and Helen (Schoenberger) Kiel.

Mr. Kiel served in the U.S. Navy from 1981 to 1983.

He had worked as a heating and air-conditioning repairman.

Daniel was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro and had been attending Sacred Heart Catholic Church while living in Poplar Bluff.

He is survived by his son Elijah "Eli" D. Kiel of Norman, OK, and he is living at the University of Oklahoma;

his parents Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kiel of Murphysboro;

one brother Bob (Elizabeth Kiel of Murphysboro; one sister Sally (Joe) Shields of Vandalia;

two nephews, four nieces, and two great nieces.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Dutch and Minnie Kiel and John and Helen Schoenberger.

His body will be cremated and a funeral memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2017, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating and burial at St. Andrew Cemetery with military services conducted by the Paul Stout American Legion Post # 127. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
