Obituary for David Carl Newfarmer - Kleinschmidt, Jr.

David Carl Newfarmer -  Kleinschmidt, Jr.
David Carl Newfarmer-Kleinschmidt, Jr., 31, of Murphysboro, was tragically killed in an explosion and fire near his rural Murphysboro home on Friday, October 6, 2017.

David was born on April 4, 1986, in Murphysboro, to David Kleinschmidt, Sr., and Rita (Rodersheimer) Newfarmer.

He was a 2005 graduate of Operation Rebound, and worked building his own real estate rental business, and occasionally helping his neighbor and friend, Fred Ellis.

David is survived by his parents Randy and Rita Newfarmer of Murphysboro;

his uncles Darrell Newfarmer and David Newfarmer of Murphysboro, Roger (Carolyn) Newfarmer of Jonesboro, and Robby (Suki) Rodersheimer of Ocala, FL;

his aunts Lorie Martin (Andy Green) of Murphysboro, Kim (Bob) White of Chester, and Michelle (Rob) Ellenberger of Woodstock, GA;

his half brother Jason Kleinschmidt and his half sister Jennifer;

grandmother Freida McKinney of Murphysboro and grandfathers Larry Rodersheimer of Murphysboro and Carl (Jeanne) Kleinschmidt of Chester.

He was preceded in death by his father David Kleinschmidt, Sr., grandfather Don McKinney, grandparents Henry and Lucille Newfarmer, his Aunt Dee Newfarmer, and his step-brothers Bryan Newfarmer, Ryan Newfarmer, and Jamie Newfarmer.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ with Rev. Kim Magwire officiating and burial at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Pettett Funeral Home and from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
