Obituary for Benjamin David Arbeiter

Benjamin David  Arbeiter
Benjamin David Arbeiter, 40, of Murphysboro, passed away as a result of a trailer accident at 12:10 a.m. Sunday, August 6, 2017, at his home in Murphysboro.

Benjamin was born on July 7, 1977, in Carbondale, to David R. Arbeiter and Barbara (Ridge) Arbeiter.

He was a farmer and an avid hunter. He was a member of the Jackson County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed showing his antique tractors and would also include them in the area parades.

Mr. Arbeiter was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and he was a member of the American Legion Post # 127 and V.F.W. Post # 7190.

Ben was a trustee on the Somerset Township Board.

He loved to spoil his niece and nephews.

Ben married Holly A. Dekeyrel on November 2, 2013, in Murphysboro, and she survives.

Other survivors include his parents of Murphysboro;

two sisters Alinda Heron of North Beach, Maryland, and Rhonda Kings and her husband George Kings of San Clemente, CA; and his niece Laura Heron of North Beach, Maryland, and nephews Ethan Kings, Alex Kings, and Vance Kings;

his mother in law Patricia DeKeyrel of Milan, IL

one sister in law Melanie DeKeyrel-Bell of Janesville, Wisconsin, and his nephew Elias Bell and his niece Adeline Bell, who was just born Friday;

and aunts, uncles, and a multitude of cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Rudolph and Katherine Arbeiter and C. W. and Edna Ridge, and his father in law Frank DeKeyrel.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Josemon Hoem officiating and burial at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery with military services conducted by the Paul Stout American Legion Post # 127. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Pettett Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post # 127, or the V.F.W. Post # 7190. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
