Lyle Dean Vogel
Lyle Dean Vogel, 69, of Carbondale, passed away at 12:23 a.m. Monday, May 29, 2017, at the Veteran's Administration Community Living Center in Marion, Illinois.
Lyle was born on September 8, 1947, in Murphysboro, to Charles Vogel and Ruth (Rathjen) Vogel.
He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church at Jacob. He attended Christ Lutheran School and graduated from Gorham High School.
Mr. Vogel served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict.
Lyle came back and graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and then worked in social services in the area.
He was an avid reader including the bible. He always wanted to learn as much as he could. He was also an avid Cardinal fan.
Lyle is survived by his mother Ruth Vogel of Jacob;
one sister and brother in law Connie and Charles Mattingly of Perryville, MO;
one brother Larry Vogel of Murphysboro;
two nephews and two nieces: Charles Mattingly, Christina Paisley, Corinne Vogel, and Benjamin Vogel;
three great nephews and three great nieces;
three aunts and two uncles Oliver Rathjen of Murphysboro, Lenora Vogel of Chester, Juanita Hollmann of Fairview Heights, Harold Vogel of Atlanta, GA, and Regeta Scheiderer of OH;
and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, one aunt, two uncles, and both sets of grandparents.
