Obituary for Katherine I. Yearian (Inman)
Eva Katherine I. Yearian, 88, of Murphysboro, passed away at 10:15a.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home in Carrier Mills, Illinois.
Katherine was born on April 9, 1928, in Jackson County, Illinois, to Lloyd R. Inman and Dosia (Palmer) Inman.
She had worked at the Jacket Factory in Murphysboro and then she raised her family and was a homemaker. She was a very good seamstress, and she enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crocheting. She enjoyed being crafty, working with ceramics, making clothes, cross stitching, embroidering, and tatting. She loved being with her family and her church family, especially traveling with her church group's "Young at Heart". She was honored to be part of the Bald Knob Cross restoration. She enjoyed history and genealogy and donated items to the Jackson County Historical Society. She enjoyed "retail shopping" therapy.
Mrs. Yearian was a member of the United Methodist Church in Murphysboro.
Katherine married John Henry Yearian on May 4, 1947, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on February 5, 1997.
She is survived by one daughter Vicky Yearian of Pittsburg, IL;
four grandchildren Jennifer Bailey, Heather Tackett, Rebecca Mifflin, Jon Spurgeon and his fiancée Brittany Wilson;
seven great grandchildren Josh Partridge, Elaina Dailey, Paige Kelly and her husband Keith Kelly, Kyle Cano, Emma Tackett, Karol Mifflin and Ava Mifflin;
two great great grandchildren Raelyn Kelly and Olivia Kelly;
and one sister Iris Davis of St. Louis, MO.
She was preceded in death by one daughter and son in law Carolyn and Eldon Skidmore, one son in infancy Roger Gene Yearian, twin great granddaughters Shawnna and Katlynn McDowell, and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Gilbert and burial at Pate Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Jackson County Historical Society. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
