Obituary for Ernest Lee Kelley

Ernest Lee  Kelley
Ernest Lee Kelley, 72, of Marion, went to be with the Lord at 2:42 a.m. Sunday, October 2, 2016, at his home in Marion, surrounded by his family and friends.

Ernest was born on November 25, 1943, in Carbondale, to Everett "Bud' Kelley and Nila (Toler) Turner-Fedderke.

He had served in the National Guard.

He was a lineman and cable splicer for GTE and then Verizon retiring after working thirty seven years.

Mr. Kelley was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local # 702 in West Frankfort for over thirty five years. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Marion, and he was a member of the Crab Orchard Boat and Yacht Club. He enjoyed boating and fishing. He especially liked to dance. He also loved Sprint Cup Series Racing.

Ernest married Eileen Barton on June 21, 1996, in Johnston City, Illinois, and she survives.

Other survivors include his mother and step father Nila and William Fedderke of Murphysboro;

his two sons Bradley Kelley and his wife Katrina Kelley of Murphysboro and Bryan Kelley and his wife Dawn Kelley of Frisco, TX;

two step sons David Shadowens and Toby Shadowens and his wife Donna Shadowens, all of Marion;

nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren;

one brother Shorty Kelley of Murphysboro; and one sister in law Kathleen Leonard of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Josemon Hoem officiating and burial at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to So. IL Parkinson Support Group/Research, P.O. Box 266, Carbondale, IL 62903.
