Obituary for Doris Ihle (Wohlwend)
Doris Wohlwend Ihle, age 95, of Murphysboro, passed away at 7:41 p.m., Monday, February 16, 2009 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, Murphysboro, IL.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 19, 2009 at St. Andrew Church in Murphysboro with Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating and burial will be at St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday until 9:45 a.m. at Pettett Funeral Home.
Doris was born in Murphysboro on September 6, 1913, to Ernest and Flora (Schrell) Wohlwend.
Doris was a floral designer and co-owner of Ihle Florists and Greenhouses since 1953.
Mrs. Ihle was a member of St. Andrew Church and Altar Society, and also a member of St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary. She had taught piano and played in a string quartet.
She married Herman Ihle on September 10, 1936, in Murphysboro. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1989.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Annette and Peter Piacenza of Mount Vernon;
two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert "R.J." Ihle and Thomas and Gilda Ihle, all of Murphysboro;
nine grandchildren, Natalie Holland and her husband Greg Holland, Brenda Jo Avezzano and her husband Tommy Azezzano, Jodi James and her husband Michael James, Laura Piacenza, Amanda Piacenza, Timothy Ihle, Gina Olivarez, Todd Ihle, and Trent Ihle;
five great grandchildren, Brycen Holland, Ryland Holland, Alayna Avezzano, Michelle Mary James, and Lauryn Olivarez;
special friends, Beverly Holt of Murphysboro, Phyllis and George Trifonoff of Wichita, KS, and Jo Ann Housewright of Murphysboro.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
