Obituary for
Edmond "E. J." John Fager
Edmond John "E.J." Fager, 95, of Murphysboro, passed away at 6:05 p.m. at Manor Court of Carbondale.
Edmond was born on October 13, 1920, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to E. P. Fager and Alice (Mileur) Fager.
He served during World War II in the U.S. Army reaching the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 127.
Mr. Fager had attend Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in DeSoto.
He worked both as a mechanic and as a automobile salesman, owning both North Side Garage and Fager Motor Sales, both located on N. 14th Street. In the years past he build and played with speed boats. More recently he restored antique cars and made replica "classic" wagons.
E. J. married Velma Bush on July 22, 1944, in Paducah, Kentucky, and she preceded him in death on July 6, 1998.
He is survived by one son and daughter in law Rex and Lisa Fager of Murphysboro;
three grandchildren and their spouses Michael Price, Jr. and Debbie Price on Kinmundy, IL, Jessica and Tony Belorbraydic of Lake of Egypt, and Justin Fager of Murphysboro;
four grandchildren Luke Belorbraydic and Everleigh "Evie" Belorbraydic of Lake of Egypt, Hailee Price of Kinmundy, IL and Alayna Fager of Murphysboro;
two brothers Daniel Fager and Phillip Fager, both of Murphysboro and one sister Clarice Arbeiter of Murphysboro.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Victor and Robert Fager, and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Don Caraway officiating and burial at Murdale Gardens of Memory, where Military Services will be conducted by the Paul Stout American Legion Post # 127. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday until the hour of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
