Verna Lee (Roach) Ornelas, age 64, of Murphysboro, passed away at 7:05 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2008, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Illinois.


Verna was born on February 26, 1944, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Ralph "Happy" Bludworth and Irene (Perrigan) Bludworth.

She was a factory worker.

Verna married William Ornelas on February 14, 1990 in Murphysboro, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on March 14, 2002.

She is survived by four children Thomas L. Roach and his wife Gina Roach of Vergennes, Aphia Horton and her fiancee Bruce Moore of DuQuoin, Robert Roach of Murphysboro, and Roberta Schierbaum and her fiancee Jeff Willis of Carbondale;

fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Verna was preceded in death by two children Donnie Roach and Christina Rains, one sister Mary Jane Reeder, two brothers in infancy, and her parents.
