Obituary for Delores E. O'Guinn (Baker)
Delores E. O'Guinn, 88, of Murphysboro, passed away at 9:56 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2015, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Illinois.
Delores was born on March 13, 1927, in Sparta, Illinois, to Ralph Baker and Concardia (Palisch) Baker.
She had worked at the former Brown Shoe Company, Al and Ray's, Semler Peerless, and finally, she ended her working career by as a home health caregiver.
Mrs. O'Guinn was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro. She was a member of the American Legion Post # 127 Ladies Auxiliary in Murphysboro.
Delores married Norman O'Guinn on February 9, 1946, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and he preceded her in death on November 14, 1991.
She is survived by her dog Peanut; three grandchildren Douglas O'Guinn of Lafayette, IN, Shawna O'Guinn of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Michelle O'Guinn of Pinckneyville;
eight great grandchildren;
and nine nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by two sons Michael O'Guinn and Donald O'Guinn, three brothers and two sisters Ralph Baker, Dollie McLeod, Charles Baker, Dorothy Young, and Donald Baker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Josemon Hoem officiating and burial at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran School in Murphysboro. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
