Obituary for Charles "Mike" M. Naegele

Charles "Mike" M.  Naegele
Charles M. "Mike" Naegele, 65, of Murphysboro, passed away at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014, in the
Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Charles M. was born on December 24, 1948, in Murphysboro, to Charles and Anna (Reeves) Naegele.

Mr. Naegele served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1969 to 1971.

He had worked for Arch Mineral Captain Mines for twenty years and the retired from SIUC Grounds Department in 2011.

Mr. Naegele was a member of the Christ The King Lutheran Church in DeSoto. He was a member of the E.A.A. Chapter # 277, and a member of the Murphysboro Elks.

Mike was very passionate about flying. He built and flew his own planes. Last year, he made the flight of his life to Oshkosh, Wisconsin to the E.A.A. Convention.

He married Suzie Porter on February 19, 1972, in Murphysboro, and she survives.

Other survivors include one brother and his wife Chris and Debi Naegele, one sister and her husband Janet and Ron Heern, and one brother in law and his wife Bill and Teresa Porter, all of Murphysboro;

his nieces and nephews, Jara (Joe) Gray, Allison (Ben) Campos, Phillip (Amber) Heern, Zach (Theresa) Heern, Bill (Angela) Porter, Jr., Daniel Porter, and Christina (Travis) Lyday;

and many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother in law Elnora Porter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Pettett Funeral Home with Troy Humphrey officiating and burial at Parrish Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and until 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Christ The King Building Fund of DeSoto, The Berean Christian Church in Murphysboro, or Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc.
