Obituary for Pearl "Nan" Icenogle (Fowler)

Pearl "Nan"  Icenogle (Fowler)
Pearl "Nan" Icenogle, 98, of Murphysboro, passed away at her granddaughter's home in West Frankfort, at 12:57 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2014.

Pearl was born on December 11, 1915, at Grays Point, Missouri, to Charles Fowler and Lucy (Smith) Fowler.

She was a seamstress at her home and had worked for thirty one years at Cal-Crest Factory in Murphysboro. She was a member and had served as past president of the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union Local # 761. Nan enjoyed painting, quilting, and sewing. She did sewing for the Murphysboro City employees as well as for the Boot Camp.

Pearl and her family always celebrated a family reunion during Apple Festival and she would not miss any of the Apple Festival parades.

Mrs. Icenogle was a member of Pate Chapel Church in Murphysboro.

She married Clarence "Tippy" Icenogle on November 13, 1934, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on March 29, 2000. She was also preceded in death by one daughter Dolores "Dodie" Moore on December 29, 2001, five brothers and her parents.

Nan is survived by four grandchildren and their spouses Tanie and Lawrence Stewart of Killeen, TX, Tim and Cindy Clover of Herrin, Chip and Starla Clover of Belton, TX, and Libby Dial and Dan Norman of West Frankfort;

nine great grandchildren Amy (Will) Lucas, Ashley (Tony) Humphreys, Amanda (Chad) Powell, T. J. Clover, Dustin Rakowitz, Brittany Dial, Kabrie Newman, J. J. Newman, and Dylan Newman;

three great great grandchildren Victoria, Logan, and Nathaniel, and one child of Amy's is on the way.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. James Easton officiating and burial at the City Cemetery in Murphysboro. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday until the hour of services at the funeral home. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
