Virginia B. Needham
Virginia B. Needham, 98, of Murphysboro, Illinois, passed away at 6:50 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2013, at the Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County in Murphysboro, Illinois.
Virginia was born on October 15, 1915, in Vergennes, Illinois, to Sebastian and Allie Schimpf.
She had worked at the former Brown Shoe Company and had operated a rooming house on Walnut Street in Murphysboro. She, her husband and family did a mail run in the rural Wolf Lake area.
Mrs. Needham was a member of the United Mine Workers Association.
She loved to fish, garden and can the vegetables she raised.
Virginia married Tom F. Needham on March 17, 1934, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on September 7, 1999.
Survivors include one son and daughter in law Glendale and Virginia Needham of Pomona;
three grandchildren Tanya Castlebery of Murphysboro, Glenn Scott Needham of Pomona, and Randy Grider of Granite City;
four great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter Shirley Grider, one grandson Robbie Grider, one brother, one sister and her parents.
