Obituary for Edward C. O'Connor
Edward C. O'Connor, age 93, of Murphysboro, passed away at his residence in Murphysboro, at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2007.
Edward was born on March 12, 1914, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to Edward J. O'Connor, and Lena (Weber) O'Connor.
He had worked as a farmer and an electrician and had been a lifetime member and the oldest living member of the I.B.E.W. Local # 309. He was a member of the Jackson County Farm Bureau and had served as past president.
Mr. O'Connor was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro.
Ed married Gertrude Gerardi on November 25, 1937, in O'Fallon, Illinois, and after almost 70 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on November 12, 2007.
Survivors include eight children and their spouses, Sister Trudy O'Connor O.S.F. of Springfield, IL, Robert and Sally O'Connor of Elk Mountain, WY, Thomas and Maria O'Connor of Aurora, IL, Mary and George Becker of Pittsburgh, PA, Daniel and Lois O'Connor of St. Louis, MO, John and Pat O'Connor of Tamms, IL, Dennis and Tonya O'Connor of Marion, and Ann and Hursel King of Murphysboro;
twenty five grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren; and one niece and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son David Paul O'Connor, one sister Theresa O'Donnell, and his parents.
