Obituary for Violet E. Underwood (Miller) Hobbs)
Violet E. Hobbs Underwood, age 75, of Sarasota, Florida, and formerly of Gorham, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2007, in Sarasota, Florida.
Violet was born on September 30, 1932, in Gorham, Illinois, to Wallace Taylor Miller and Esther Anne (Frisby) Miller. She had been a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Gorham.
She had worked in the laundry at Jackson County Nursing Home and had worked in housekeeping at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital.
Violet had married Gilliam Hobbs on October 30, 1948, and they had four children who survive Mike Hobbs and his wife Cindy Hobbs of Murphysboro, Gwendolyn Trammel and her husband Paul Trammel of Grand Tower, Ralph Hobbs of Ava, and Orville Hobbs of Grand Tower; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She later married Carrell Underwood on February 20, 1986, in Florida, and Carrell had three daughters, who Violet added to her family;
Linda Gomez and her husband Lolo Gomez, Carolyn Donovan and her husband Tom Donovan, and Kim Solartz and her husband Nollys Solartz; several grandchildren and one great grandson;
Violet is also survived by many friends in Southern Illinois and in Florida.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother John Henry Miller and one sister Betty Miller.
