Obituary for Edna Jane Yates (Graff)
Edna Jane Yates, age 85, of Murphysboro, passed away at 3:25 a.m. Sunday, April 16, 2006, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Pettett Funeral Home with Mary Wyatt and David Hunt officiating and burial at Boucher Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church for funeral dinners or to Boucher Cemetery.
Edna Jane was born on January 28, 1921, in Levan Township, Illinois, to Robert Rollie Graff and Sadie (Thompson) Graff.
Mrs. Yates had worked for 30 years at the former Lustour Corp. in Murphysboro, and retired as a specialty worker.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Murphysboro and the Dorcas Sunday School Class of the church, and the Jackson County Home Extension--Somerset Unit.
Edna married Charles L. Yates on October 2, 1973, in Murphysboro, and he survives.
Other survivors include one brother Wayne Graff of Murphysboro and one sister Blanche Roberts of Marion;
and several nieces and nephews including Alice and Don Svanda and Mary and David Reiman, all of Murphysboro, and Robert P. and Sherry Graff of Glen Carbon, IL, and Bruce and Mary Ann Graff of West Alexander, PA.
She was preceded in death by one brother Wilbur Graff, one sister Freda Oglesby, and her parents.
