Obituary for Kenneth L. Underwood
MURPHYSBORO: Kenneth "Curly" L. Underwood, age 88, of Murphysboro, passed away at 10:06 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2005, at the Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County in Murphysboro.
Kenneth was born on August 23, 1917, in Murphysboro, to Frank Underwood and Etta (Cooper) Underwood.
He was a U.S. Army WW II veteran.
Mr. Underwood had retired from the ink and lacquer department from Curwood in Murphysboro.
He had married June Whetstone and she preceded him in death and he later married Leatta McCormack, who preceded him in death on June 29, 1999.
"Curly" was a member of the American Legion Post # 127 and the V.F.W. Post # 7190. He enjoyed watching baseball games and was a Cub's Fan, and he was an avid reader.
He is survived by three children Kenneth Underwood and his wife Betty June Underwood of Paducah, KY, Paul Lavern Underwood and Marilyn Formato and her husband Robert Formato, all of Murfreesboro, TN;
five grandchildren Krista Mitchell, Leigh Ann Alton, Lisa Neal, Pauline Aubertin and Lucretia Renee Higgerson;
ten great grandchildren Hannah Leigh Alton, Ethan Thomas Mitchell, Nicholas Formato, Lindsey, Brittany, Dylan, and Camryn Aubertin, Patrick, Brad, and Billy Neal;
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters.
